Glen Ellyn (Ill.) Glenbard South five-star wide receiver Cam Williams has signed with Notre Dame.

The 6-foot-2.5, 196-pound Williams is the nation’s No. 29 overall prospect and No. 9 wide receiver in the 2024 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking — a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 2 recruit from Illinois.

Williams committed to Notre Dame on June 29, choosing the Irish over Cincinnati and Michigan.

“I just felt it. The campus is great, I love the culture, the vibe fits me, and it is a great setting to be in,” Williams told On3. “Notre Dame is a special place with a special culture and it is the place for me. All the schools on my list are great, but Notre Dame is different. Notre Dame is where I want to be.”

Williams also noted his strong relationship with Irish head coach Marcus Freeman.

“I love coach Freeman,” Williams said. “We have had some good talks and I love who he is. What people see in coach Freeman is who he is. He is real. He is down to earth. Coach Freeman is a coach I can’t wait to play for.

“After getting to know coach Freeman and getting to be around him more, I know he is a guy players will want to play even harder for. Coach Freeman is a special coach at a special place.”

Williams has an On3 NIL Valuation of $204K. The On3 NIL Valuation is the industry’s leading index that sets high school and college athletes’ projected annual value (PAV). The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.

Cam Williams Scouting Summary

“Athletic receiver who creates big plays in a variety of ways. Has good size, measuring around 6-foot-1, 185 pounds as a junior. Owns plus length at the position, with arms over 33 inches. Has clocked 40-yard dash times in the 4.4’s at college camps. An easy, twitchy mover who shows the ability to separate vertically and take the top off of opposing defenses. Shows the ability to change gears on vertical routes. Also proves to be dangerous after the catch. Runs with tempo and pace as a ball-carrier. Looks to be a strong YAC receiver with the ability to maximize yardage with the ball in his hands. Turned in a productive junior season with 882 yards and 13 touchdowns on 44 catches.

“Has a very strong multi-sport background as a standout in basketball and track. Shows some above-the-rim bounce on the hardwood. A very strong athlete in track, running a 10.86 second 100-meter mark as a junior and posting a 6-foot-5 high jump as a sophomore. Can continue refining some of the technical aspects of his game like route-running and consistently high-pointing the football, though he has shown some flashes with the latter. Looks to have high physical upside as a multi-dimensional receiver pending further skill development.”
