Denton (Texas) Ryan linebacker Anthony Hill is one of the country’s most sought-after recruits in the 2023 class, and another major program has jumped into the mix for him. On Tuesday, Hill announced that he has received an offer from Notre Dame and new head coach Marcus Freeman.

Hill is the No. 11 prospect in the 2023 class, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He ranks as the nation’s No. 1 linebacker and the No. 2 prospect in the Lone Star State.

The 6-foot-2, 230-pounder has already amassed more than 30 offers, including Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, Ohio State and Oklahoma. As a junior last season for Ryan High, Hill was a menace at linebacker. He notched 131 total tackles, including 18 TFLs, as well as eight sacks, two interceptions and two forced fumbles.

Through two varsity seasons, he already has nearly 240 tackles and will surely add to that next fall.

Notre Dame, meanwhile, would like to add Anthony Hill to a class already loaded with defensive talent. The Fighting Irish currently have the No. 1 class in 2023, according to the On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Rankings. Freeman and Co. already have eight prospects committed for the cycle, including four-stars Keon Keeley, Drayk Bowen, and Peyton Bowen, who plays for Hill’s rival Denton Guyer.

Six of Notre Dame’s eight commits are on the defensive side of the ball, and each ranks among the top 130 players nationally.
