It’s been a busy summer for Baton Rouge (La.) University Lab four-star linebacker Jaiden Ausberry. The 6-foot-0.5, 202 pound prospect took official visits to Auburn, Michigan, Notre Dame and Texas A&M last month.

According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, the Fighting Irish have a commanding lead to land Ausberry’s commitment at 74.6%. LSU has the second-highest odds to land Ausberry’s pledge at 20.9%, while Auburn’s chances are at 1.4%.

“They’re in a really good spot with me right now,” Ausberry told On3’s Mike Singer of Notre Dame. “It’s going to come down to them and the other schools I’m officially visiting — and LSU. I’m thinking about those five or six schools after I finish my officials. And then I’ll make my decision in December.”

Ausberry was impressed by Notre Dame on official visit

Ausberry visited Notre Dame officially on June 10 and got to interact with multiple coaches including defensive coordinator and linebackers coach Al Golden and defensive graduate assistant James Laurinaitis. He also spoke with current members of the Fighting Irish’s 2023 recruiting class including Merrillville (Ind.) Andrean four-star linebacker Drayk Bowen and Lawrence (Mass.) Central Catholic linebacker Preston Zinter.

“They were really cool dudes,” Ausberry told Singer. “I spoke with Preston more because he was there the whole weekend, and they were both asking me when I was going to be committing. I told them I was taking my time. I enjoyed speaking with them.”

The four-star recruit shared that Notre Dame’s coaches are confident he will have everything he needs with the program. Additionally, Golden told Ausberry he would do a good job developing him as a linebacker.

Ausberry also got to view the school from an off-the-field lens.

“Every time I go back there, I learn more and more about the connections,” Ausberry said. “I got to FaceTime with Tom Mendoza for a few minutes, which was really cool. His name is on the business school, and that’s what I want to major in. It was cool to speak to him and hear what he had to say.”

Jaiden Ausberry On3 Scouting Summary

The following is the On3 Scouting Summary for Jaiden Ausberry:

“Instinctive linebacker whose field vision allows him to play fast.. Keys and diagnoses faster than everyone on the field. Excellent trigger and ability to sort through the trash to meet ball carriers in the hole. Measured at around 6-foot-0.5, 205 pounds with a 31.75-inch arm prior to his senior season. Lacks ideal length and will need to add mass throughout his frame to play in the box consistently. Looks to have strong intangibles which will allow him to see the field sooner than most. Ran an 11.67 second 100 meter time and jumped a 20-foot-2 long jump during his junior track and field season. Could develop into an every down defender once he grows into his frame. Plays his high school ball in LSU’s backyard. Father, Verge Ausberry, played linebacker at LSU in the late 80’s and currently acts as LSU’s Executive Deputy Athletic Director.”

Ausberry is the No. 82 overall prospect and No. 5 linebacker in the 2023 On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
