Greg McElroy believes the Ohio State Buckeyes duo of Quinshon Judkins and TreVeyon Henderson is the best running back duo in college football.

During the latest episode of his Always College Football, McElroy decided to rank all of the running backs in college football. He put Henderson at No. 4, and Judkins at No. 3, but he relented that they’re interchangeable, and that the duo will be pretty dang scary for the Buckeyes in 2024.

“At No. 4 and at No. 3, pretty good tandem up there in Columbus, Ohio. I have TreVeyon Henderson in at No. 4, I have Quinshon Judkins — doesn’t really matter, who’s No. 3 and No. 4,” McElroy revealed. “The only reason why I give a slight advantage to Quinshon Judkins is more availability, because if you look at TreVeyon Henderson, there have been some injury issues. He’s had some things that have really not been great, as far as consistency, because he’s just been banged up from time to time. Missed three games due to injury as a junior, plus Quinshon Judkins now coming in, he’s going to be able to take some of the load off TreVeyon Henderson. This one-two punch, with Chip Kelly calling the plays, is going to be on another level.

“It’s by far the best tandem in the sport. Because if you look at what Quinshon Judkins has done, dating back to 2022, only five running backs can even come close to the production that Quinshon Judkins has had since 2022. 2,700 yards and 1,800 yards after contact. Think about that. That is absolutely absurd, to think about the idea that he did what he did as a true freshman, and then followed up with the sophomore campaign that was a little bit of a slow starting campaign, but got better as the season went along. But now, that one-two punch is going to be almost impossible to defend.”

Of course, that statistics backup what McElroy is selling, as Henderson has been incredible over his three seasons with the Buckeyes, including an effort in 2023 where he amassed 926 rushing yards and 11 rushing touchdowns, as well as having 229 receiving yards, as well.

As for Judkins, he arrives in Columbus after two stellar seasons with the Ole Miss Rebels, where he topped 1,100 rushing yards in both seasons in the SEC. Additionally, he’s accumulated 34 total touchdowns throughout his time, and that’s not lost on the Buckeyes.

Ohio State has championship aspirations, and if they make good on them in 2024, it’ll have a lot to do with their running back tandem of Quinshon Judkins and TreVeyon Henderson
