With the February dead period on the horizon, programs around the nation are looking to make good on this upcoming weekend, as another round of Junior Days are set to commence.

That includes a big weekend in Norman, as Oklahoma is set to welcome a crop of top talent in the 2025 cycle. Scottsdale (Ariz.) Notre Dame Prep four-star wide receiver Cooper Perry has already arrived for his visit with the Sooners, as he posed with OU head coach Brent Venables on Friday.

The 6-foot-0.5, 185-pounder is being pursued by plenty of schools — notably Oregon, Notre Dame, Arizona, Arizona State and Oklahoma. Perry competed in the Battle Miami 7v7 last weekend, where On3’s Chad Simmons dished on the latest buzz surrounding the blue-chipper.

“There is still some moving pieces here with all of the coaching changes, but Oklahoma, Oregon and Notre Dame are three schools in the mix for Cooper Perry,” Simmons wrote. “He will visit Oklahoma for the first time next weekend. Washington is still in play with the new staff. Arizona State, an in-state school, is in the mix as well. Perry is not close to a decision, but the first trip to Norman is something to watch.”

It’s the Ducks that are currently trending for Perry, according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM). Oregon recruiting insider Justin Hopkins and Notre Dame insider Mike Singer have each logged picks in favor of Dan Lanning and Co. landing the wideout. The Sooners will look to assert themselves in the race for Perry’s pledge with a big visit this weekend.

Perry is the nation’s No. 249 overall prospect and No. 32 wide receiver in the 2025 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking — a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 1 player in Arizona.

Sooners already nearing double-digits in 2025 class

Brent Venables and the Sooners have already done plenty of work in the 2025 class. As of Feb. 2, Oklahoma possesses commitments from nine prospects — five of whom are four-stars. The class currently ranks No. 11 in the nation, per the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings.

A pair of WRs currently sit atop the class. Oklahoma City (Okla.) Millwood four-star Jaden Nickens and Checotah (Okla.) four-star Elijah Thomas are the two highest-ranked recruits on the pledge list and are two of six in-state commits. Both are also top-130 overall prospects.

Midwest City (Okla.) Carl Albert four-star quarterback Kevin Sperry is a top-250 recruit and the No. 20 signal-caller in the cycle. He’s flanked by fellow four-stars Ennis (Texas) WR Gracen Harris and his Carl Albert teammate, athlete Trynae Washington.
