Class of 2024 cornerback Eli Bowen of Denton (TX) Guyer High announced his commitment to Oklahoma Thursday evening.

The 5-foot-9, 180 pounder chose the Sooners over Texas.

“The more I thought about it, the more it came back to family and how much playing with my family and keeping us together stood out more and more,” Bowen said. “So yeah, my brother and realizing it’s a once in a lifetime experience to do that with my brother.”

His relationship with the coaching staff and their plan for him played a key role in his decision as well.

“My relationship with them has only been getting closer since I’ve been around them and in contact with them for so long. I would say I’m definitely closest to Valai and the relationship we got is beyond just football. They plan on using me in lots of different spots. I might be playing safety nickel or corner there, so there’s a lot of opportunities.”

Eli is the younger brother of class of 2023 five-star safety Peyton Bowen, who is currently a freshman at Oklahoma.

The Lone Star State cornerback joins coach Brent Venables and the Sooners’ top 20 class in the 2024 team rankings. He is accompanied by four-star running back Taylor Tatum, four-star wide receiver Zion Kearney, and others.
