Kansas City (Mo.) Kansas City North four-star EDGE Adepoju Adebawore has added his name to the Oklahoma commitment list.

The No. 1 prospect in Missouri has a brother at Northwestern and the Wildcats were a contender. Georgia, LSU, and Missouri were others in the mix, but none could compete with Oklahoma.

The No. 20 prospect in the On300 visited Norman for the first time in the spring. He left that visit feeling like Oklahoma could be the school. After his official visit, he knew he wanted to be a Sooner.

“When I finished my unofficial visit, Oklahoma was my No. 1 school,” Adebawore told On3. “I wasn’t 100% ready to commit yet, but I had a good idea about Oklahoma.

“After my official visit, my feelings were confirmed and I knew it. I wanted to take a little more time and take another visit to make sure, but I knew it was Oklahoma.

“It was just a perfect match between me and Oklahoma.”

Adepoju Adebawore believes in the Oklahoma staff

It starts at the top. Brent Venables and his plan fit what Adebawore was looking for.

“Coach Venables is a great guy, a genuine person, and he has a great plan for Oklahoma. He came in with a vision, he has a plan for me, and I love the way he plans to lead at Oklahoma.

“He and the coaching staff are genuine. The culture under coach Venables is great and I really like the fit for me.”

Miguel Chavis came over from Clemson with Venables. The young Chavis is coaching defensive ends and his connection with Adebawore was a factor.

“Coach Chavis and I have similar personalities. I love his style and who he is. He was always honest, genuine, and real with me. Then, on the coaching side, he mapped out a plan for me. He knows how he wants to use me, he is a great teacher, and we are a great fit for each other on and off the field.”

Norman is the right fit for Adebawore

This one officially ended mid-way through the summer, but Oklahoma took over this race early in the spring. The Sooners and Adebawore were right for each other.

“Everything just fit with Oklahoma,” Adebawore said. “They see me as their guy, I love their plan for me, and I get to play for great people.

“The people are friendly at Oklahoma, it is a great environment for me, and I love what I am going into with coach Venables.”
