Ole Miss Peach Bowl Postgame Press Conference

Lane Kiffin and Ole Miss have gotten their shots off over the last day since their victory over Penn State in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl. That continued on Sunday evening with a Twitter exchange between Kiffin and Rebel WR Dayton Wade.

Wade initiated the conversation with a tweet earlier tonight. He posed the simple question in the aftermath of the 38-25 win of how anyone could have thought the Nittany Lions would be the ones coming out victorious.

That’s when Kiffin, a known personality on Twitter, responded by referencing the betting line for the game. As he pointed out, some people clearly didn’t believe in the Rebels. That’s considering Vegas had them as a 5.5-point underdog in Atlanta on Saturday.

Kiffin proved those bettors and analysts wrong by covering that spread themselves.

After taking a 10-point lead in the first half, Ole Miss really made their money in the second half. They won the final half hour by 10 points to take the matchup by 13.

The Rebels did so by hanging 540 yards of offense on the Nittany Lions. Much of that came from the arm of QB Jaxson Dart as he had one his year’s best games by going 25-40 (62.5%) for 379 and four total touchdowns.

That led to a season-high for allowed points by Penn State this season by two touchdowns.

This was good for their second bowl win of Kiffin’s tenure in Oxford and first since his debut in 2020. It also clinched the first ever 11-win season in the history of the program at Ole Miss.

The Rebels have had their fun, both inside Mercedes-Benz and on social media, since taking down Penn State this weekend. Now, with that proof, all Kiffin and Ole Miss can hope for is that Vegas shows them some more respect heading into what will now be a highly-anticipated campaign in 2024.

Ole Miss trolls Penn State after Peach Bowl win

After a Peach Bowl win over Penn State to start the Saturday slate of bowl games, Ole Miss took to social media as the admin got one final troll job done on the season.

It featured little more than a picture of Rebels’ QB Jaxson Dart. Penn State’s mascot is the Nittany Lion — which is basically an eastern mountain lion — and the Rebels took advantage of that, posting a picture of Dart with his kill on a hunting trip. The prey: a mountain lion.

A simple message came along with the picture.

The Rebels won 38-25 to cap off an 11-win season and catapult themselves into 2023. It’s the first 11-win season in program history.
