Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin included a call to action for Rebels fans this week in his press conference. The Rebs are getting ready to face 2-8 Vanderbilt but Kiffin wants the fans to show up and get loud regardless.

“To me, it should be a challenge to our fans that Texas A&M didn’t use a silent count, it’s unheard of in this conference to go on the road and use a verbal count, it should be a challenge to our fans to cheer louder,” Kiffin said. “Since it’s senior day and probably the quarterback’s last day, hopefully, we show up.

Ole Miss got off to a hot start versus Texas A&M that carried them to a 29-19 victory on Saturday. The Rebels are now No. 10 in the nation and fully in the race for a New Year’s Six bowl game appearance. Accidentally overlook Vanderbilt and their New Year’s Six dreams go out of the window.

“All you have to do is look around the country, it happens every week,” Kiffin continued. “Texas-Kansas, Florida-South Carolina. It’s an SEC game. We’ve had issues with all three phases at some point in the year so there’s no looking ahead.”

On the other side of Vanderbilt awaits Mississippi State. The Egg Bowl goes down on Thanksgiving night. Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m. ET.

Rebels start Heisman push for Matt Corral

Ole Miss quarterback Matt Corral has put together a sensational season piloting the Rebels’ offense. That success has him right in the thick of Heisman Trophy discussions. Entering the final stretch of the 2021 regular season, Corral continues to be in the Heisman running – and Ole Miss has officially started its push for the quarterback to win the prestigious award.

The team on Sunday released a video to their Twitter account featuring Corral and his success this season. They used the hashtag #Hei2man in the tweet and even included a graphic in the upper left corner of the video.

Corral has been on a tear this season. The junior from Ventura, California has completed 182-of-272 passes for 2,527 yards and 16 touchdowns with just two interceptions. He’s also rushed 116 times for 528 yards and 10 more touchdowns. He’s averaging 280.8 passing yards and 58.7 rushing yards per game.

In Corral’s latest outing, he completed 24-of-37 passes for 247 yards and a touchdown with no interceptions.

Lane Kiffin’s star quarterback is currently fourth in the odds for the Heisman Trophy.
