The Ole Miss Rebels have a new king when it comes to the single-game record for receiving yards. On Saturday against Vanderbilt, wide receiver Jonathan Mingo set a new record with 247 yards receiving. Mingo’s accomplishment is quite impressive, considering receivers that have recently laced them up for the Rebels in the past. A list of receivers including D.K Metcalf, A.J. Brown, Elijah Moore, and Laquon Treadwell.

Vanderbilt gave Ole Miss all they could handle in the first half taking a 20-17 lead into the half. But thanks to Mingo and the offense, the Rebels were able to keep pace in the first half and come out to start the second half with an offensive explosion. The Rebels quarterback Jaxson Dart found his star senior wide receiver nine times, with two of the catches going for six. And when Vanderbilt made it an emphasis to deny Mingo the ball, Dart found Jordan Watkins seven times for 117 yards and one touchdown.

Mingo’s performance on Saturday against Vanderbilt was nearly a spitting image of his stats heading into the game. Brandon, MS, native entered into the game with 13 receptions for 260 yards and a touchdown. With Mingo’s performance Saturday, if he was not on the list of elite pass catchers in the SEC and college football, he is now.

The Rebels will need a repeat performance from Dart, Mingo, and Watkins next Saturday when they take on the Auburn Tigers at home.

‘His ego’s out of control’: Juice’s NIL deal and other Lane Kiffin takeaways from a light-hearted Reb Talk

The Grove Collective, Ole Miss’ NIL arm, “signed” Juice Kiffin, the dog of Lane, the third-year Rebel head football, earlier this week.

As a result, Lane Kiffin said Juice is getting a little too big for his collar.

“I’m just telling you, you guys think it’s all cool and everything, this dog listens to nothing anymore,” Kiffin joked, in Thursday’s edition of Reb Talk, hosted by David Kellum, the voice of Ole Miss football.

“Like, his ego’s out of control. He comes home, he’s terrible. He’s like the child that gets too much too early. You can’t keep them grounded. He’s a disaster now. You come to find out he’s been in the Grove for seven hours partying with everybody all day and comes home and doesn’t want to have a confined lifestyle.”

The contract, which the Grove Collective shared on Twitter, stipulates compensation for Juice in the form of gift cards to Hollywood Feed in Oxford. In exchange, Juice grants his name, image and likeness to the Grove Collective.
