The top-ranked class in the Pac-12 Conference got even better on Sunday. The Oregon Ducks landed a commitment Sunday evening from four-star linebacker Harrison Taggart of Draper (Utah) Corner Canyon.

Taggart, who is 6-foot-2 and 200 pounds, picked Oregon over Arizona, UCLA, USC and Utah. He announced the commitment on Instagram Live and later shared an Instagram image confirming his commitment.

Harrison Taggart took an official visit to Eugene on Sept. 18. He had previously taken an official visit to Arizona in June.

Harrison Taggart becomes the 22nd commitment for the Class of 2022 for the Ducks. With Oregon having so few remaining spots in the class, landing the commitment from Taggart shows how important of a target he was for the Duck coaches.

The Ducks added a commitment from linebacker Devon Jackson a couple of weeks back. Oregon now has four linebacker commits in 2022 along with Emar’rion Winston and TJ Dudley.

Harrison Taggart was leaning toward Oregon since visit

Harrison Taggart indicated after his mid-September official visit to Oregon that the Ducks were high on his list. He said the visit helped him connect with the coaching staff.

Taggart also said he saw a good opportunity to play quickly at Oregon. He also singled out the setting on campus and around town.

“I’m choosing Oregon because of the environment and coaches,” Taggart told OregonLive.com. “I like the college-town feel and the family feel on the football team.”

Taggart is the second recruit from Corner Canyon in as many years to commit to Oregon, joining Under Armour Al-American center Jackson Powers-Johnson from the 2021 class.

As a junior, Taggart collected 140 tackles, 10 tackles-for-loss and five sacks. He also was a top offensive player for Corner Canyon, starring at wide receiver.

Oregon has top class in Pac 12

Harrison Taggart’s commitment further solidifies Oregon’s spot on top of the Pac 12 class rankings. The Ducks also have a class that currently ranks inside the top 10. With a few remaining slots and a few surprises potentially coming down the stretch, there’s a chance Oregon could finish with a class that’s in the top five by the time the early signing period opens in mid-December.

“There’s several notables left on the board for Oregon in 2022, but the one I think really stands out in my mind is Chaparral (Ariz.) defensive lineman Anthony Lucas,” ScoopDuck’s Justin Hopkins told On3 earlier this month.

“He’s from the West Coast and plays a position where there isn’t an abundance of elite players in the footprint. Lucas is one of the top-rated players at his position, one of the few spots the Ducks have room for in this 2022 class. Additionally, Oregon continues to make in-roads into the state of Arizona, and Lucas would continue to boost those efforts.”
