The addition of Bo Nix was a key one for the Oregon Ducks this offseason. With Anthony Brown off to the NFL, the former Auburn starter is ready to lead the way in Eugene. While the statistics and experience are great, Oregon head coach Dan Lanning says the biggest thing Nix is adding to the team is his leadership.

Lanning opened up about Nix’s impact thus far for the Ducks during media availability on Tuesday. He says Nix has commanded respect in his work process similar to the other quarterbacks at Oregon.

“I think he’s just showing up,” said Lanning. “I think Bo’s earned a lot of respect of the players on the team with the way that he operates but I think you’ll see that throughout our quarterback room. Ty (Thompson), Jay (Butterfield), all those guys have really carried on.”

Nix arrives in the Pac-12 with three seasons worth of starting in the SEC under his belt. He produced 7,251 yards and 57 total touchdowns while at Auburn. The former No. 2 QB in On3’s 2019 Consensus Top Football Recruits had a successful start to his college career and is on to better things with the Ducks.

Nix’s experience as a starting QB in college has helped him make the transition according to Dan Lanning. He has carried it across the country and has influenced the entire offense.

“I think Bo’s sat in that seat before so he knows what it looks like. He’s done a good job of carrying that through the entire offense,” said Lanning.

Bo Nix may have left the SEC but won’t have to wait long to get his chance to play the conference again. Oregon heads to Atlanta to open the season against the reigning national champion Georgia Bulldogs on September 3rd. Under Nix’s new leadership, Danning believes his team is more than prepared for that challenge.
