San Diego Lincoln four-star cornerback Jahlil Florence tells On3 that he had decommitted from Oregon. The 6-foot-2, 180-pound Florence originally committed to the Ducks back in August.

Florence sent the following statement regarding his decommitment to On3:

First and foremost, I want to thank Coach Cristobal, Coach Chance and the rest of the Oregon coaching staff for the great opportunities they were offering at the University of Oregon.

After talking with my family, I felt it was best to  de-commit and open up my recruitment. I still have interest in Oregon and want to see who they hire, but also want to keep all my options open and see what else is out there.

The University of Oregon has always always been my dream school. I’ll always love the Duck family, and wish nothing but the best for the university.

Jahlil Florence hears from other schools

As soon as news of Cristobal’s departure from Oregon broke, Florence heard from several other programs.

“Almost all (over 20) the schools that offered before I committed hit me up today, and besides those, schools like Miami, Northwestern, and North Carolina reached out too,” Florence told On3 Director of Recruiting Chad Simmons on Monday.

USC also extended an offer to Florence as well this week.

USC definitely is still USC with the addition of Lincoln Riley and his staff, so yes, that did get my attention.”

Jahlil Florence Scouting Summary

On3 Director of Scouting Charles Power wrote the following on Jahlil Florence as a prospect:

Well-rounded cornerback who combines size, long speed and ball skills. Has seen his stock steadily rise since his junior season (played in the spring of 2021). Bouncy, fluid mover who transitions well. Plays fast and jumps routes. Showed off his ball skills with five interceptions as senior. Has plus long speed, often running under 11 seconds in the 100 meters. Performed well against top receivers in game situations. Also shows off his playmaking ability as a returner. Has made constant developmental strides over the last two years of his high school career.

The On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting services, currently ranks Florence as the nation’s No. 150 overall prospect.

Oregon is now down to 12 commitments in the 2022 class.
