The TCU Horned Frogs landed a big pick up out of the transfer portal on Thursday. Former Georgia Bulldogs defensive tackle Tymon Mitchell announced his “next chapter” on Twitter with a graphic in the TCU purple.

Mitchell entered the transfer portal just last week and quickly made it out to the other side to join new head coach Sonny Dykes in Fort Worth.

The 6-foot-3, 300-pound defensive tackle played in four games for Kirby Smart’s team on the way to their first national title in more than 40 years this season. He posted a tackle a piece in the games versus Charleston Southern and Arkansas, and two tackles versus Vanderbilt and UAB. He played in six games total over three seasons in Athens.

A native of Nashville, Tennessee, Mitchell was a four-star prospect and top-500 recruit, according to the On3 Consensus.

Mitchell will be immediately eligible at TCU as this is the first transfer of his career.

Dykes adds Mitchell to first group of transfers

TCU head coach Sonny Dykes is well aware of the power of the transfer portal. He used it to his great advantage while he was down the road at SMU.

Though the post-spring acquisition process is just getting started with the addition of Tymon Mitchell, the new head Horned Frog already has eight new players to work with in 2022.
