TCU and Jamie Dixon are in agreement on a contract extension, CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein reported. The deal will now run through the 2029-30 season.

Dixon just completed his eighth season as the Horned Frogs’ head coach, taking the program to its third consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance. He has a 160-110 overall record at the helm, including a 60-81 mark in Big 12 play and an NIT championship in 2017.

Dixon’s name also came up in connection with the head coach position at USC after the departure of Andy Enfield. However, the Trojans ultimately hired Eric Musselman away from Arkansas to take over the program.

Before USC’s pursuit of Musselman heated up, The Field of 68’s Jeff Goodman reported Dixon – a native of Burbank, California – was likely a “frontrunner” for the position.

“Eric Musselman and Jamie Dixon appear to be the frontrunners,” Goodman said on After Dark. “Remember, Jamie’s from the area, L.A. Musselman lived out there for a while. His wife, Danyelle Sargent, lived out there for a while. Obviously, things have turned quickly at Arkansas. … Whatever the case, Eric Musselman has risen to the top. Now, he might’ve been there anyway, but I think this certainly gives him even more of an advantage.

“Again, Dixon, Mark Pope, I’ve been told Randy Bennett might be in the mix a little bit. Buzz Williams was a little bit in the mix, as well. But Dixon, Pope, Musselman probably at the top of the list right now. I wouldn’t be surprised if it goes that route and Eric Musselman is the guy at the end of the day.”

Dixon took over at TCU in 2016 after 13 years as the head coach at Pitt. With the Panthers, he totaled a 328-123 overall record and a 143-81 mark in conference play across the Big East and ACC. Pitt made 11 NCAA Tournaments under Dixon’s watch and won the College Basketball Invitational in 2012.

TCU won 20 games for the third straight season in 2023-24, finishing 21-13 after falling to Utah State in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. The Horned Frogs have been active in the transfer portal, as well, hosting Michigan transfer Dug McDaniel for a visit before he committed to Kansas State. TCU is also one of the top six schools for former Arizona State guard Frankie Collins, On3’s Joe Tipton reported.
