Garland (Texas) Naaman Forest four-star interior offensive lineman Markis Deal announced his commitment to TCU on Sunday night. He chose the Horned Frogs over multiple programs, including Georgia, Texas and USC.

Deal is the No. 104 overall prospect and No. 6 interior offensive lineman in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 20 player in Texas.

On3 rates Deal higher than other recruiting services, according to the Industry Comparison. Per the 2023 On300, he is the No. 68 overall prospect, No. 5 interior offensive lineman and No. 14 player in Texas.

Prior to his commitment, the 6-foot-4, 280-pound prospect made multiple trips to TCU. His official visit to Fort Worth came on May 20. Deal also watched TCU defeat the Longhorns 17-10 on Nov. 12 in Austin.

The four-star is now the 21st member of the Horned Frogs’ 2023 recruiting class. He is the second top-200 recruit committed to head coach Sonny Dykes and his staff alongside Mesquite (Texas) North Mesquite four-star wide receiver Cordale Russell.

Deal has an On3 NIL Valuation of $109K. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.

Markis Deal On3 Scouting Summary

The following is the On3 Scouting Summary for Markis Deal:

“Two-way lineman whose highest long-term upside is on the offensive line. Has some of the more explosive and violent hands in the 2023 cycle. Shocks and blows defenders off the ball with his initial punch, often resulting in emphatic pancake blocks. Excels as a run blocker and gets to the second level with ease. Also shows off his athleticism at defensive tackle, with a good first step and the ability to run down plays. Likely projects as an interior offensive lineman due to arm length. Shows off his explosion with a 53+ shot put toss as a junior. Also plays basketball. Will need to commit to playing offensive line to maximize his upside.”
