TCU tight end Jared Wiley had the best season of his college football career this year for the Horned Frogs. He hauled in 24 catches for 245 receiving yards and four touchdowns. While his old quarterback, Max Duggan, will be moving onto the 2023 NFL Draft this offseason, Wiley announced on Sunday afternoon that he’ll be returning to the TCU Horned Frogs for a final season.

In his announcement below, he made it sound like he was leaving to toy with the fans a bit, but then announced he’ll be coming back to Fort Worth for one more season of college football, instead of entering the 2023 NFL Draft.

Check it out.

He wrote, “A year ago I committed to TCU searching for a new place to call home. From the minute I stepped on campus my expectations were exceeded tremendously. Everyone who has taken part in this process for me needs to know that I am blessed to have y’all in my life and that I’ll never forget the lessons learned along the way,” Wiley wrote.

“To my coaches, thank y’all for continuously pushing me to become a better player, teammate, and man. The love from y’all has been genuine all year and I can’t thank y’all enough for that.”

“To my dawgs, I love y’all boys. The odds we defied this year has caused me to fall in love with the game again. There’s nobody I’d have rather played next to than this group of guys.”

“To my physical therapist team and trainers. Y’all made this year possible for me. From not knowing if I would be cleared in time to play to being able to do the things I did this season is credited to y’all 100%.”

“To Horned Frog Nation. The best fans in America! I hope I was able to come in and make y’all proud this season and represent TCU the right way. The strides we made this season were possible because of the support y’all continued to show us week in and week out. I’m sorry we couldn’t get it done for the city of Fort Worth and all of our supporters.”

“TCU will always hold a special place in my heart and will always be considered home. Thank you all who have made this long journey possible. It has been nothing short of a dream come true.”

“With that being said, I still have more to prove at the collegiate level. I have decided to come back to TCU and spend my last season in Fort Worth. #GoFrogs.”

Before joining TCU for the 2022 campaign, Wiley spent his first three seasons with the Texas Longhorns. In the 2019 recruiting cycle, he was rated as a three-star prospect and the No. 27 tight end in America, according to the On3 Consensus Rankings. He played his high school football at Temple (Temple, Texas).

Wiley chose to return to TCU instead of entering the 2023 NFL Draft

The 2023 NFL Draft is set to take place from Thursday, April 27 through Saturday, April 29 in Kansas City, Missouri. The event will be held at the plaza just outside of Union Station.

Round 1 of the NFL Draft is set to begin at 8 p.m. ET on Thursday, Apr. 27. Rounds 2-3 will begin at 7 p.m. ET on Friday, Apr. 28, and Rounds 4-7 will begin at 12 p.m. ET on Saturday, Apr. 29. The draft will be broadcasted throughout the weekend on both ESPN and NFL Network.

To be eligible for the NFL Draft, players must be at least three years removed from their final year of high school while having used up their collegiate eligibility. Underclassmen are able to request league approval to become eligible for the draft, as are players who have graduated prior to using up all of their collegiate eligibility. 100 underclassmen were approved for last year’s draft. 73 of those 100 underclassmen were granted special eligibility while 27 of them were underclassmen who had completed their college degrees.

The 2023 NFL Scouting Combine will take place from Feb. 28 through March 6 in Indianapolis.
