Seth Greenberg reveals why he wouldn't want to play Tennessee right now

Tennessee is playing as well as anyone in the country and is rightfully receiving high praise for the incredible season they’ve put together.

During a segment on ESPN’s College GameDay live from Thomspon-Boling Arena live in Knoxville, co-host Seth Greenberg discussed why Tennessee is the most dangerous team in the country right now.

“This is a different Tennessee team,” Greenberg said. “They can play fast, they can play slow, they can play big or small. They can create turnovers in over 25 percent of possessions. 35 percent of the time, they miss shots. Missed shots are sometimes their best offense because they go and fetch [the misses].

“When you look at this Tennessee team, they could beat you in transition, they can beat you in the halfcourt, beat you with their defense, beat you with their depth. Most importantly, you look at the DNA of teams that win championships, they have the maturity, and this team is a mature, experienced team.”

That experience came last season in the form of an SEC Tournament victory that catapulted the Vols to a three-seed in the NCAA Tournament. They were stunned in the second round by 11-seed Michigan, but now Tennessee coach Rick Barnes’ squad knows what it takes to have everything they’ve worked for taken away in a moment’s notice. They aren’t planning on experiencing that feeling again.

Still, those are big words to live up to as the No. 4 Vols prepare to take on No. 10 Texas at home Saturday afternoon in the Big-12/SEC Challenge. Both teams sit at 17-3 on the season and are in contention for a No. 1 seed come March — a win today would benefit both teams mightily.

Tip-off from Knoxville between the two top-10 teams is set for 6 p.m. ET tip live on ESPN. Tennessee entered the day as 5.5-point favorites over the Longhorns.
