Four-star Bogart (Ga.) Prince Avenue Christian School defensive lineman Christian Garrett is down to seven schools in his recruitment and looking to take the next steps.

AlabamaClemsonGeorgiaGeorgia TechOle MissTennessee and USC remain, with more than two dozen schools extending offered the No. 61 prospect in the On300 rankings. Last month, he narrowed down to those seven and is now focusing on setting official visits.

Garrett is locked in to see Clemson on the weekend of May 31 and Georgia a week later. Garrett has added Tennessee to that list, according to On3’s Chad Simmons, and will see the Vols during the weekend of June 21.

“I am not shutting things down, but I am narrowing things down and focusing on a smaller selection of schools,” Garrett told Simmons last month. “Communication with these schools has been strong and all have good things I like. I have visited five of the schools, I know a lot about them and I see these schools as a good fit for me and my family. I am confident that they can develop me as a man and football player.”

Garrett has not yet visited Ole Miss and USC. He has been talking more with coaches from those schools and both intrigue him enough to plan spring visits.

With Georgia, Tennessee and Clemson visits locked in, only two more remain.

“My plan is to take five official visits in the summer, look everything over with my family and coaches, then commit in the summer. It will come down to relationships and who can develop me. It is about the fit for me and my family.”

Garrett has visited Georgia five times, Clemson and Tennessee three times, Georgia Tech two times and Alabama once.

Garrett talks the five favorites he has visited

After he narrowed his list to seven schools, Garrett broke down the five programs he had taken visits to with Simmons.

Alabama: “Alabama speaks for itself. They recruit well, they put guys in the league and they get the best in the nation. Nick Saban was a big loss, and I thought that over, but they are still Alabama and they will do big things.”

Clemson: “Clemson is a staff I have connected well with from the beginning. Coach Nick Eason and Coach Dabo Swinney have shown love since I camped there, they connected with me and my family and we just have that relationship.”

Georgia: “Georgia is Georgia. They put the most defensive linemen in the league right now. I have a really good connection with Coach Kirby Smart and Coach Tray Scott too.”

Georgia Tech: “I have good connections at Georgia Tech with two former teammates (Aaron Philo and Bailey Stockton) being there. I had a good visit on their Junior Day too and I like what their new coaches are doing there. Georgia Tech is on its way up.”

Tennessee: “Tennessee has made me feel like a priority since I camped there last summer. I have been building a good relationship with Coach Josh Heupel and Coach Rodney Garner. They do a great job of checking up on me each week.”
