A slight ankle injury took Texas A&M WR Evan Stewart out of the Aggie’s 34-22 win over Arkansas for a stretch. With that said, Jimbo Fisher has since made it clear that it won’t impact the sophomore’s status at all for this weekend against No. 11 Alabama.

Fisher updated any information on Stewart during his press conference on Monday. As of today, he fully believes that his team’s leading receiver will “be good to go” when they take the field against the Tide on Saturday.

“(Evan) came back. He came back in the game, got plays, and should be good,” said Fisher. “He should be good to go.”

Stewart was A&M’s leading pass catcher last year and has continued to be through five games this fall.

In his second collegiate season, Stewart has caught 24 passes so far for 357 yards and four touchdowns. That’s two more catches and 14 more yards than Ainias Smith in second place while his four scores are tied with Noah Thomas for the team lead.

Alabama’s defense, which ranks Top-20 in the nation, is more susceptible to the pass like we saw, for example, in their loss to No. 11 Texas. That’s why, with the Tide hitting the road for the second straight week in SEC play, Fisher and A&M will feel much better about their chances to pull another upset on the Tide with Stewart available and in the fold.

Fisher believes Bobby Petrino ‘called an excellent game’ vs. Arkansas

Jimbo Fisher was ecstatic with Bobby Petrino following Texas A&M‘s offensive performance against Arkansas.

The Aggies leader had nothing but praise for his offensive coordinator, believing he did a masterful job with the team’s game-plan as Texas A&M advanced to 4-1 on the season.

“I thought he called a great game,” Fisher said regarding Petrino. “We punted twice in the game. I mean, we had the interception on the first drive and we had a fumble, but we — I thought Bobby called an excellent game. We mixed run, we had pass, we spread the ball around. We had different formations, personnel. I think he’s had a great year all year. He’s doing a great job. Called a hell of a game.

“We’ve got to execute a bit better, and we were. I thought we could’ve took the air out of it right there, with about four, five minutes to go. We were doing it, and then we let them back in it. But then we were able to come back and do it. So I think he’s doing a hell of a job.”
