Alabama vs. Texas A&M: Early point spread released on Crimson Tide vs. Aggies

In one of the most anticipated SEC West games on this year’s slate, Alabama is set to face Texas A&M and the early point spread for the game has been released.

Alabama will be a 5-point favorite over Texas A&M, according to odds listed by FanDuel.

The series has been relatively lopsided since Texas A&M joined the SEC back in 2012, with Alabama having won nine of the 11 contests since. The overall series favors Alabama 12-3.

But this year’s contest will be an interesting one, as the early point spread indicates.

Both programs have had some quarterback issues early in the 2023 season. Alabama started the year with Jalen Milroe under center, but coach Nick Saban opted to bench him following a loss to Texas.

After neither backup quarterback proved effective in a game against USF the following week, Saban returned to Milroe as the starter. Milroe has been the most consistent generating offense for Alabama, though the Crimson Tide would certainly like to get even more production out of him going forward.

Texas A&M’s quarterback situation has been marred by injury. Starter Conner Weigman suffered a season-ending foot injury in a game against Auburn, replaced by LSU transfer Max Johnson.

Johnson has proven quite capable as a replacement, which comes as little surprise given his experience in the league.

Another side story to the actual game between Alabama and Texas A&M is the matchup between Saban and Aggies coach Jimbo Fisher. The two were quite vocal prior to the 2022 season, getting into a verbal spat over NIL and the outstanding 2022 Texas A&M recruiting class.

Following that verbal dust-up, Saban and Alabama won a nail-biter against Texas A&M in 2022, a down-to-the-wire 24-20 victory.

Alabama and Texas A&M will meet at 3:30 p.m. ET on Saturday, with a broadcast slated for CBS. That gives you plenty of time to take advantage of the early point spread.
