Well, they do call Steve Sarkisian one of the best play callers in all of college football. He pulled off a beauty in the game against West Virginia, with two of Texas‘ best skill positions involved in a double pass in the first quarter.

Quarterback Hudson Card lined up in shotgun, throwing a lateral pass to wide receiver Xavier Worthy. That was important, as tight end Ja’Tavion Sanders was streaking down the field. Worthy hit a perfect pass, especially for a non-quarterback, hitting Sanders in stride.

Sanders got into the end zone untouched, giving the Longhorns a two-touchdown lead. Worthy was also able to grab his second score of the day, with one being on the receiving end. Now, he has a passing touchdown added to his already impressive resume.

With the score, Texas got off to another fast start under Sarkisian, leading 14-0. Now, the test will be to see if they can keep their foot on the gas and hold onto a win against the Mountaineers. It’s too early to tell but the Longhorns are playing well early at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium.
