As Texas gets ready for the season finale against Oklahoma this weekend, the Longhorns are hoping to get Dylan Disu on the court. He left Monday’s game against Baylor with a knee injury, putting his status in question for the Red River Showdown ahead of the Big 12 Tournament.

As of Wednesday, the Longhorns are “still evaluating” Disu, according to the Austin American-Statesman’s Kirk Bohls.

Disu only played 10 minutes against Baylor before his departure, and Texas went on to lose the game 93-85 to drop to 19-11 overall and 8-9 in Big 12 play. While meeting with reporters on Tuesday, Rodney Terry provided an update and said Disu is trying to “push through it” with one game left in the regular season.

“Dylan’s been there before,” Terry said of Disu. “I mean, to be honest with you, we didn’t even think he was going to play today, you know. So give him a lot of credit for pushing through today and trying to play in a really bad situation, in terms of his health today. But he tried to push through it and play a little bit.”

Disu is averaging 16.1 points and 4.8 rebounds on the season, while shooting an impressive 51.4 percent from 3-point range. Still, Terry wasn’t looking to make excuses after the Longhorns came up short without the senior.

“We have a next man mentality. No excuses in terms of him not playing. The next guy’s ready to play. There’s an opportunity for him there,” Terry said. “So proud of what he was able to do tonight and how he tried to push through it. He’s gonna be fine. He understands what he’s playing for this time of year and you don’t get these games back. So he tried to push through it today, but it was a tough one for him today.”

As for what led to Disu leaving the game against Baylor, ESPN showed a replay of him getting his ankle stepped on by a Baylor player.

Once the whistle was blown, trainers rushed onto the court to take a look at Disu. Before too long, he was hopping on one leg and being sent back to the locker room.

Disu was originally considered a game-time decision heading into Monday night, dealing with a stomach bug. He was able to play but not to his normal amount of minutes. With 10:50 remaining in the second half, Disu had played for just 10 minutes and recorded three points.
