The nation’s best wide receiver decommitted from LSU last week after initially pledging to the Tigers back in August.

Now, Duncanville (Texas) Five-Star Plus+ wide receiver Dakorien Moore is down to Ohio State, Texas and Oregon.

Moore is set to officially visit Columbus on May 31, Austin on June 14 and Eugene on June 21. He broke down each school with On Texas Football’s Gerry Hamilton. Regardless of which school Moore eventually chooses, he said that it will be a difficult decision. His hope is to commit before his senior season.

Ohio State’s ‘brotherhood’ stands out

‘The Brotherhood’ has been the mantra in Columbus for years, referring to the culture at Ohio State that extends beyond one’s three to four years on campus. That culture stood out to Moore.

“I really like their program,” Moore said. “They’re very competitive. Going in, the first day I noticed how competitive they are on the field. I would say it’s similar to a well-organized machine. They all look like one, the brotherhood. They all have the same mindset, they know their ultimate goal. The coaches and everyone out there pushing hard. As a receiver, one thing I want to see — one-on-ones. I just see nothing but competitiveness. Everybody going at it with each other. Not too much talking, you know as an athlete they’re going to talk and stuff like that, but everybody focusing on just getting better.

“Outside of that, I’ve seen how well they connect each other with people on campus and outside of campus. Just the relationships that you can bring just from being in the Ohio State culture. So I really like that and I’m eager to see how my official visit is going to go.”

Texas close to home

Perhaps the biggest selling point for the Longhorns — who currently lead for Moore in the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM) — is the proximity to home.

“It’s been well-rounded and close to home since I was little,” Moore said of Texas. “I’ve been going down and back just visiting family, not even visiting Texas, since I was real little. All of my family want me to go there, so they’re pushing hard for it. But I’m definitely keeping them in that circle.”

Texas’ performance on the field this season also stood out.

“How far they made it, to be honest. No one really expected them to make it that far, but I was always keeping my eye on them and I felt like they were going to be in that position when it came down to the end.”

Relationships at Oregon are strong

New Oregon running backs coach Ra’Shaad Samples is the son of Duncanville’s Reginald Samples — Moore’s high school head coach. The relationships in Eugene are strong.

“I really like the relationships that I have built down there,” Moore said. “Since I first started a recruitment with them, they’ve been very welcoming and they’ve shown a ton of love to me and my family. I feel like when it all comes down to it, I know for a fact that Oregon is going to have me taken care of and they’re going do anything they can to get me.”
