Steve Sarkisian is continuing his bluntness with the media regarding the Texas quarterback situation, choosing to keep all decisions in-house regarding whether Quinn Ewers will return.

While many have theorized Ewers could get back on the field this coming Saturday against West Virginia, Sarkisian decided to keep the speculation going with his answer on the matter on Thursday afternoon.

“I’m not going to tell you, no,” said Sarkisian, via Joe Cook of Inside Texas.

Of course, Ewers was injured against Alabama earlier this season, suffering an SC sprain and originally expected to miss four to six weeks. Since then, though, he has been dressing for games and reportedly throwing the ball in practice.

With Ewers out, Sarkisian has been relying on Hudson Card. On a road trip to Texas Tech, he came up short, losing to the Red Raiders in overtime.

Evidently, Steve Sarkisian doesn’t want to reveal his hand, and that’s fine — but Texas will need to make his deception worthwhile with a victory over West Virginia on Saturday, regardless of who starts under center.

West Virginia’s Neal Brown talks Texas quarterback situation, challenge is preparing for Steve Sarkisian offense

Continuing, West Virginia is getting ready to take on Texas this weekend, and this poses a unique challenge for Mountaineers coach Neal Brown. He doesn’t know who Texas is going to play at quarterback, whether it be Quinn Ewers or Hudson Card, as Steve Sarkisian has been trying to hide the starter since Ewers’ injury. On top of that, Brown needs to be ready for Sarkisian’s explosive scheme.

While speaking to the media earlier this week, Brown praised both of Texas’ quarterbacks. He also spoke about how challenging it is to prepare for Steve Sarkisian’s offense.

“Lot of respect for that brand and the team,” Brown said. “Start with the offense. I think it starts with Sark. I think he’s as good of a play caller as there is in college football.”

“Quarterback, whoever plays, they’re going to play at a high level at quarterback.”

Additionally, Brown took the time to praise Hudson Card, Texas’ experienced backup quarterback. After all, at many other schools, he might be the starter.

“I think Hudson Card has played really well. You know, [I’ve] been watching him since high school. Played at Lake Travis, one of the best high school programs in the country. He could have gone anywhere in the country. I think he’s a really good player. He played last year when he was healthy as well,” Neal Brown said.

“If Ewers plays, I thought he played extremely well early on against Alabama. Obviously, highly regarded. So, whoever lines up at quarterback, they’re gonna be good, alright? So, I think it’s pretty simple there.”
