Texas defensive lineman Zac Swanson has entered the NCAA transfer portal, On3 has learned.

Swanson logged stats in one game against ULM as a redshirt sophomore in 2023. He played in three games for the Longhorns during his career.

He is a former three-star recruit, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a proprietary algorithm that compiles ratings and rankings from all four primary recruiting media services. He was the No. 59 defensive lineman in his class, as well as the No. 530 overall recruit.

Texas finished with a 12-2 record with a Big 12 Championship win to go along with its first-ever College Football Playoff berth. It was the first time the Longhorns had logged 10 or more wins in a season since 2009’s 13-1 BCS title berth.

The NCAA Transfer Portal, which covers every NCAA sport at the Division I, II and III levels, is a private database with names of student-athletes who wish to transfer. It is not accessible to the public.

The process of entering the portal is done through a school’s compliance office. Once a player provides written notification of an intent to transfer, the office enters the player’s name in the database and everything is off and running. The compliance office has 48 hours to comply with the player’s request and that request cannot be refused.

A player can ask that a “do not contact” tag be placed on the report. In those instances, the players don’t want to be contacted by schools unless they’ve initiated the communication.
