Texas sophomore wide receiver Agiye Hall is slowly working his way into the Longhorns offense after serving a suspension to start the season. Head coach Steve Sarkisian was asked about the recent lifting of Hall’s suspension and him re-integrating with the team.

“Well I think from the suspension standpoint, how we deal with those things is internal, and so he did the things necessary that he needed to do to lift it and to get back,” Sarkisian explained. “I think naturally when you’re not around the program for some time it takes a minute to get your football legs back under you, your football mind back under you.”

Hall transferred to Texas this year from Alabama, where in his lone freshman season with the Tide finished the season with four receptions for 72 yards, including two catches for 80 yards in the National Championship Game against Georgia. Hall was suspended by Alabama in April of this year prior to him entering the transfer portal due to a violation of team rules.

In the same month, Hall transferred to Texas but was arrested 4 months later, charged with a misdemeanor of criminal mischief between $100 and $750 involving a parking boot, leading to another suspension that had him missing the first three games of the season.

Hall’s suspension has since been lifted, as he made his first appearance of the season last weekend when the Longhorns took on Texas Tech where he recorded one catch for seven yards.

“So it’s been a little bit of a gradual progression to work him back in, I think it was good for him last week to get some quality reps in a tight game, had a catch. So I think he’s making the right steps to put himself in position to be a real contributor on our offense and I do think he’ll have a role here Saturday as we go into the ball game,” Sarkisian said.

Hall could potentially be a big contributor in the Longhorn’s next matchup versus West Virginia and for the remainder of the season depending on how gradual his progression is. As a high school recruit, Hall was ranked the No. 9 player in the state of Florida and the No. 4 wide receiver in the 2021 class according to On3 Consensus. Hall has blazing speed that could compliment wide receivers Xavier Worthy and Jordan Whittington well in this offense, and it’ll interesting to see how he fits in moving forward.
