Bronny James has taken college basketball over just with his presence over his first week in the sport. Now, with two games under his belt, Andy Enfield is ready to give the freshman more to work on as he continues to adjust.

Enfield addressed James’ minutes and fit in the lineup during his postgame press conference after a 91-75 loss for USC at Auburn this weekend. He reminded everyone that this was just the first few days of James’ return and, as such, there’s a lot more for him to take on as he settles in this season.

“Bronny? It’s only his first week, really, of the basketball season with practices and then two games now,” said Enfield. “We expect him to continue to get better on both sides of the ball, understand our system and our plays.”

James debuted last Sunday against Long Beach State before playing on this following Sunday against the Tigers. For whatever reasoning of Enfield’s, James saw a few fewer minutes on The Plains than he did the week prior in his debut.

In those two appearances, he has averaged 4.5 points, 2.5 rebounds, an assist, and a steal in 15.5 minutes per game. He has made just two of his first seven shot attempts but that’s to be expected off such a stretch off the floor and having to dive into the season.

All in all, James has shown a few flashes of the player that everyone always wanted to see him be this year. Now, from here, it’s about managing his work load at a pace that’ll get him up to speed in the best way possible.

“We’re very proud of him,” said Enfield. “He’s a hard worker, has a very high basketball IQ, and a good teammate.”

Charles Barkley admires James’ return

Charles Barkley was quite pleased to see Bronny James back on a basketball court

In an interview on the broadcast of USC’s matchup at Auburn, ‘Chuck’ joined on and started by expressing his appreciation in seeing James healthy and available for the Trojans.

“Well, thank you guys for having me. The first thing I want to say is, man, great to see Bronny James on a basketball court,” Barkley said on Sunday. “You know, that’s the most important thing. Shoutout to Bronny and LeBron and his family. It’s just great to have him out there.”

James, the son of LeBron James, made his debut a week prior to this weekend’s game against the Tigers after suffering cardiac arrest over the summer.

If James can keep getting better as he has every single season, Barkley likely soon won’t be the only legend raving about the eldest son of “The King”.
