USC guard Bronny James made his college debut on Sunday after suffering a cardiac arrest this offseason during team workouts, and with the first game of his college career came his first-ever made basket as well.

In the second half of the Trojans’ matchup against Long Beach State, Boogie Ellis recorded a steal and pushed the ball up the court in transition, finding James on the wing where he drained a three-pointer that marked his first career bucket for the Trojans.

James’ three-pointer marked his only made field goal of the game, making one of his three shot attempts which all came from behind the three-point line. He ended his Trojans debut with four points after also making a free throw, adding three rebounds, two assists, two steals, and an impressive chase-down block to his stat line.

He entered his debut on a minutes restriction and ended the game logging 17 minutes coming off of the bench for the Trojans, finding himself playing during key possessions down the stretch and in overtime. But unfortunately for USC, they’d suffer their third loss in their last four games on Sunday, falling to Long Beach State 84-79 in overtime after entering halftime with a 15-point lead.

James is on a minutes restriction for his first game with the Trojans, but that didn’t stop him from making his presence felt in the Galen Center.

With his father LeBron in the building, Bronny took a page out of his book, chasing down Beach guard Jadon Jones‘ layup attempt on a fast break for an impressive block that sent the arena into a frenzy.
