The USC Trojans are heating up, securing their fourth straight victory on Saturday and finishing their Washington road trip strong with an 80-74 win over the Washington Huskies. USC freshman guard Tre White helped propel the Trojans to victory with a career-high 22 points versus Washington.

Following the game, he was asked about his improvement on the offensive end of the floor, but decided to focus more on how the team has improved as a whole.

“In a more broader sense, I feel like as a team we’ve gotten better,” White said. “I feel like we’re so deadly, like each person on the court can get off any night. I feel like we’re learning how to actually play off of each other now, so it’s like anybody’s open on any possession, so it could be anybody’s night.”

The Trojans offense has been on a scoring spree in their four-game win streak, averaging 78.5 points per game during the stretch. They’ve leaned heavily on their three-headed scoring monster of White, Boogie Ellis, and Drew Peterson, their three top scorers who are all averaging 10-plus points per game.

White has truly blossomed in his freshman season, week by week showing off what he’s capable of with his 6-foot-7, 210-pound frame. He didn’t start the first three games of the season for the Trojans, but ever since game four has been a key contributor in USC’s starting lineup.

He’s averaged 10 points per game this season for the Trojans and is one of the team’s most efficient scorers shooting 50.5% from the field. In Saturday’s win, he not only scored 22 points on 62.5% shooting, but crashed the glass with eight rebounds and made his mark as a playmaker with four assists.

“And I really just feel like it’s that to be honest, I’m still confident in my work, I’ve got the same routine but I just feel like we’re all gelling together at the perfect time,” White said.

With eight games remaining in the regular season and USC being just one game back from the top of the Pac-12 conference, the timing of their offensive outburst me coming together perfectly. They rank third in the conference in points per game and field goal percentage and are trending upward, and if White continues to improve on offense they could be one of the hardest teams to defend in the entire Pac-12.
