In year two of the Kalen DeBoer era, Washington is going to have a new look. The Huskies have unveiled new uniforms for the 2023 season.

Washington revealed four new uniform combinations Wednesday via Twitter. One features a purple jersey with gold pants and another all-purple look — purple jersey and purple pants. A white jersey with purple pants will also be featured, as will a slick all-white uniform with a white jersey and matching pants will be in the rotation, as well.

The Huskies certainly look excited about the new uniforms.

Washington put together an impressive season in 2022 — DeBoer’s first at the helm after coming over from Fresno State. The Huskies engineered an impressive turnaround, going from 4-8 to 11-2 as Michael Penix Jr. starred at quarterback. After transferring from Indiana, Penix became a Heisman Trophy contender as he threw for 4,641 yards and 31 touchdowns as he finished in the top 10 of the Heisman voting.

DeBoer nearly lost a key member of his coaching staff over the offseason, though. Offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb interviewed for the Alabama OC job to potentially replace Bill O’Brien and was seen as the potential favorite by some. However, he pulled out of the process to return to the Huskies, and the job eventually went to former Notre Dame offensive coordinator Tommy Rees.

ESPN’s Greg McElroy: Washington’s Michael Penix Jr. is the second-best quarterback in the Pac-12

The hype is building around Penix after he opted to return to Washington. On3’s Jesse Simonton listed him as one of his Top 5 Heisman Trophy contenders in the Pac-12 following his impressive 2022 season, and ESPN’s Greg McElroy added more fuel to the fire earlier this month on Always College Football.

The former Alabama quarterback listed Penix as the second-best quarterback in the Pac-12 behind reigning Heisman winner Caleb Williams. His reasoning was simple. Penix can do it all — run and pass — and keep Washington in the conversation atop the Pac-12.

“You look at what he did last year. Now, think about leading the nation in passing as long as he did. The productivity — 4,600 yards, 31 touchdowns,” McElroy said. “I mean, all the numbers are off the charts.

“He has huge arm talent. Now, on occasion, is there a big miss? Yeah. There’s a big miss in there every once in a while. On occasion, is there a bad decision? Sure. To be expected. But you kind of complete the player with his mobility, you complete the player with his downfield accuracy. His arm strength is off the charts good, as well. I do think another year in the system is only going to allow him to grow even more.”
