It's hard to put into words the way Caitlin Clark reshaped the world of women's college basketball. But national championship winning South Carolina coach Dawn Staley served Clark well. "I want to personally thank Caitlin Clark for lifting up our sport," Staley said. "She carried a heavy load for our sport, and it just is not gonna stop here on the collegiate tour. She's gonna lift the WNBA up as well. Caitlin Clark, you are one of the GOATs of our game. We appreciate you." Clark is the all-time leading scorer in both men's and women's basketball, passing LSU's Pete Maravich in the 2023-2024 season. With her 30 points in the loss to the Gamecocks in the 2024 national championship game, Clark finished her career with 3,921 points, while averaging 31.7 points per game. During the journey to the scoring records and national title game, the country tuned in – including an unprecedented 18.7 million in the national title game – to watch Clark forever reshape women's college basketball. “Coaching Caitlin Clark was a blessing," Iowa coach Lisa Bluder said. "She is and will be a game changer for women’s basketball. It’s insurmountable how much she has given back to the program and our university. She is 1-of-1."
