Doubles as a dangerous return man due to his change of direction and open-field vision. A consistent performer when facing to cornerbacks while playing a national schedule at IMG Academy. More quick than fast. Will need to continue adding improving his burst and long speed as he has yet to run a verified 40-yard dash faster than 4.72 seconds. Well-rounded technical skill set and battle-tested resume against top competition points to a high floor with his ultimate ceiling being determined by his continued athletic development.

Carnell Tate transferred to IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla., before the start of his junior season. He attended Marist High School outside of Chicago as a freshman and sophomore. His sophomore season at Marist was wiped out because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Tate said the decision to transfer to IMG was made to help him get ready for big-time college football. “IMG helps me prepare for the next level faster,” Tate said. “It was a tough decision, but I have no regrets. It was the right decision for me.” Tate plans on majoring in business and finance. His father, Sean Tate, went to school at Alabama A&M. His mother is Ashley Griggs. His siblings are Re'asia, Re'niyah, and Akayla. He lists playing video games as his hobby.
