Reminds Us Of

Jackson Arnold's live arm, quick release and on-field toughness remind us of Baker Mayfield. Like Mayfield, Arnold plays with a strong base and generates good zip on his passes. Arnold is a more touted high school prospect and has a quicker release at the same stage, while Mayfield made more improvisational plays at the prep level.

Scouting Report
Tough, live-armed quarterback who quickly rose to be the top 2023 signal caller in Texas. Looks like the most ready to play quarterback in the 2023 cycle. Plays for one of the top high school programs in the Dallas Metroplex and led his team to the state title game as a junior and a deep playoff run as a senior. The most productive five-star quarterback in 2023, while also facing the toughest competition of the group. Plays in a spread-iso offensive scheme that heavily utilizes play action downfield passes and power running between the tackles. Flashes a quick release in cams and Friday night settings. Shows a strong arm with the ability to generate velocity on intermediate and downfield throws. A light-footed athlete who consistently escapes pressure and makes plays out of the pocket. One of the tougher top quarterbacks in the 2023 cycle, carrying a considerable rushing load. A physical runner who embraces contact. Has the speed to pull away at the second level. Backed up a very productive senior season with a strong showing at the Under All-America Game. Does not have the stature of some other top quarterbacks at under 6-foot-1 and around 200-pounds but has a relatively big frame at his height. Also doubled as a top baseball player before turning his focus to football.

Personal Life
Jackson Arnold was thrust into the spotlight at Denton (Texas) Guyer during the state championship game of his freshman season when starter Eli Stowers was knocked out of the game with a knee injury. Guyer was shut out in that game. But Arnold used the game as motivation to develop into one of the top quarterbacks in the country. “I can just remember a young, big-eyed freshmen kid with hair hanging down on his face,” Guyer coach Rodney Webb told Spectrum News. “And I remember in that moment of time, this is going to kill him or make him stronger, and it made him stronger.” So much strong that Arnold led Guyer to the 2021 state title game with 3,931 yards passing and 34 touchdowns. Away from the field, Arnold likes to golf and fish. His parents are Sharon and Todd Arnold.
