Jacson Arnold a top performer at Under Armour All-America week

Charles Power

Jackson Arnold was the top quarterback all week at Under Armour. The Five-Star Plus+ signal caller flashed a quick release and strong arm with the ability to easily generate zip to all levels of the field. Arnold was accurate and did a very nice job of establishing chemistry with his Team Speed receivers. This was on display during the game, when Arnold hit Mikey Matthews on a back shoulder fade – a route they practiced all week. Throughout the week and during the game, Arnold showed the ability to move within the pocket. We saw him step up in the face of pressure on several occasions. Being honest, the Team Speed offensive line is the most porous front we’ve in a national all-star game in some time. With that said, Arnold acquitted himself very well, showing some translatable feel and mobility in dealing with pressure.

Jackson Arnold earns 5th star from On3

Charles Power

Oklahoma quarterback commit Jackson Arnold earns his fifth star and leaps up to No. 12 overall in On3's rankings update. The 6-foot-1, 190-pounder is having a very strong season at Denton (Texas) Guyer. Arnold has been tearing up the Lone Star state's highest classification as a senior, completing 69 percent of his passes for 2,859 yards (10.43 yards per attempt) and 31 touchdowns against three interceptions. Arnold has also continued to to show his ability as a run threat, rushing for 513 yards and 14 more scores to this point. The Sooner pledge has one of the stronger and quicker arms among quarterbacks in the cycle and has made continued progress as a player on Friday nights. He's consistent on a week-to-week basis and plays at his best in the showcase games. We've also seen Arnold show some progress in working against pressure and navigating within the pocket. It's also worth noting Arnold has many more opportunities to impress as he and Denton Guyer are primed for a deep playoff run in addition to being the highest-rated quarterback set to play in a national all-star game.

Jackson Arnold continues ascent with dominant showing vs. Allen

Sam SpiegelmanNational Recruiting Analyst

Sooners OC Jeff Jebby arrived in a helicopter to watch Jackson Arnold dissect Dallas-area powerhouse Allen to the tune of 25-of-28 for 334 yards and five total touchdowns, including a 58-yarder as Guyer vaulted to 8-0 in convincing fashion in a primetime tilt. Arnold sat for much of the fourth quarter. Since taking over as the full-time starter and shouldering much of the workload on offense, which was enough to advance to the title game last year, Arnold continues to drive home the point that he’s the ultimate gamer. He plays with a unique comfortability operating this offensive attack. There might not be one quarterback in the country I’d lean on to win one game right now than Arnold, who is playing decisive, aggressive attacking downfield and also playing near-flawless football. He brings a whole other dimension to the Guyer offense with his mobility to escape pressure and make off-schedule plays out of the pocket. The five-star Sooners pledge reminds me a ton of Russell Wilson early on his tenure with the Seattle Seahawks during their early to mid-2010s success.

Jackson Arnold rises in On3 rankings

Charles Power

Oklahoma commit Jackson Arnold (No. 25) moves to the cusp of five-star status after a hot start to his senior season. Arnold has his Denton Guyer team off to an undefeated start and has made some big throws against top competition. The 6-foot-1, 200-pounder has a quick release and one of the stronger downfield arms in the cycle. Arnold is in his second year as a starter at Denton Guyer, and the game looks to be slowing down for him a bit early on. He should be playing deep into the playoffs and continue rising with a strong senior year in Texas’ top classification.

Jackson Arnold impresses early on as a senior

Charles Power

Oklahoma pledge Jackson Arnold‘s season opener against Rockwall (Texas) Rockwall-Heath was among the better showings from the group to this point. Arnold didn’t have a ton of opportunities in the first half as his Denton Guyer team scored three defensive touchdowns. With that said, the 6-foot-0.5, 195-pounder flashed his high-end arm talent and good speed in the second half. Arnold showed why he’s considered to have one of the stronger arms in the 2023 cycle, hitting a deep shot for a long touchdown and throwing a dart into a tight window for another score. He also took a zone read keeper 64 yards for a score, out-running the Rockwall-Heath secondary. Arnold finished 12-of-18 for 204 yards and three touchdowns with 87 rushing yards on four carries. Denton Guyer is sure to receive tougher tests throughout the season, but Arnold flashed the skill set that has him as a top 50 prospect for On3 and one of the top quarterbacks in the 2023 cycle.

Jackson Arnold has up-and-down showing at Under Armour Future 50

Charles Power

Things sped up a bit for Oklahoma quarterback commit Jackson Arnold when defensive backs were added to the equation at Under Armour Future 50. This mirrors what we saw at the Elite 11 Finals. Arnold was a standout in drill work flashing a big arm with the ability to drive the ball downfield. He had some trouble in 7-on-7 going 3-12 with a few instances that could’ve gone for timed sacks. The 6-foot-1, 200-pounder just didn’t look as comfortable in that setting as drills or routes on air. The arm talent is readily evident, though.

Jackson Arnold shows off live arm at Elite 11 Finals

Charles Power

Jackson Arnold showed one of the livest arms at the Elite 11 Finals. The Oklahoma pledge particularly excelled in drill work. His quick release and juice on the football consistently stood out relative to many of the others on hand. The 6-foot-1, 190-pounder has a strong base and throws with power. Arnold was a little up and down in 7-on-7 play on Thursday, with On3 charting him as on target for 10 of 16 passes with one touchdown. He did have an interception, but it went right off the hands of a receiver and should’ve been a completion. We saw the receivers struggle a bit with Arnold’s velocity throughout the session. He was also a little late on a few throws and reads during 7-on-7. Still, we got to see Arnold’s arm talent on display over the course of the week.

Jackson Arnold moves into the top 100 of overhauled On300

Charles Power

Jackson Arnold moves into the top 100 on the heels of a strong first season as a starter at Denton Guyer High. The 6-foot-1, 187-pounder is the top-ranked 2023 quarterback in the state of Texas, by a fair margin. Arnold showed a strong arm and some gritty toughness as a runner while running Guyer’s iso-spread uptempo offense. He completed 66.5 percent of his passes for 3,921 yards, 34 touchdowns and five interceptions in addition to 659 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns on the ground. Arnold led Guyer to the precipice of a state title as a junior.

Jackson Arnold faces off against 5-star CB

Charles Power

Jackson Arnold and Denton Guyer faced off against five-star cornerback Terrance Brooks and Little Elm. Arnold finished the game 11 of 20 for 135 yards and a touchdown. He also ran for 87 yards and another score on 13 carries. The speed and rushing ability were on display in the first half, when Arnold took a quarterback draw up the middle for a 59-yard touchdown. We were most impressed with his tough, physical rushing and the ability to bounce off tacklers. As a passer, Arnold has a quick release, flipping the ball out to the boundary without strain.
