Jurrion Dickey dominates in senior opener

Charles Power

Jurrion Dickey more than lived up to his five-star billing in his season debut on Saturday afternoon. The Oregon commit has transferred from San Jose Valley Christian to Atherton (Calif.) Menlo-Atherton and was ruled eligible shortly before the opener. Menlo-Atherton was down three scores in the first half when Dickey decided to take the game into his hands. The 6-foot-2.5, 210-pounder took over, scoring on four touchdowns in the final three quarters, sparking a 48-34 come-from-behind win. He finished with six catches for 169 yards and three touchdowns along with a 50-yard touchdown run. Dickey flashed the complete skill set that makes him the No. 15 overall prospect and No. 2 wide receiver in the 2023 cycle for On3. He has a rare combination of size, play speed, physicality and technical polish. On one touchdown, we saw Dickey put on an exquisite move off the line and catch a quick slant, subsequently roasting the secondary for a 63-yard catch and run. He showed his ability to make defenders miss after the catch on the first (a deep corner route) and third (50-yard reverse) touchdowns. The final score was an impressive play on the ball, as Dickey out-jumped the cornerback for a high-point grab on a fade pass. The Bay Area standout also played a bunch of snaps at linebacker. Dickey showed competitiveness and an effort level that is highly encouraging for a prospect who is already so highly touted.

Jurrion Dickey earns 5th star from On3

Charles Power

Oregon commit Jurrion Dickey (No. 15) was On3’s top receiver at Overtime’s OT7 – an event that featured many of the top-ranked pass catchers in the cycle. The 6-foot-2, 210-pounder pairs readymade size with excellent burst in his routes. We saw Dickey separate from defensive backs at all levels. The NorCal native has been the top receiver at every event he’s attended dating back to last summer. This carries over to Friday nights, where Dickey is a dominant receiver for San Jose Valley Christian. He’s physical and productive in pads, totaling 1,304 yards and 19 touchdowns on 78 catches in 2021.

Jurrion Dickey a top performer at Overtime OT7 7-on-7

Charles Power

Jurrion Dickey was an On3 Top Performer at the loaded Overtime OT7 tournament in Las Vegas. Dickey earned the On3 MVP on the second day of action. Dickey showed the most complete and translatable skill set of any wide receiver in Las Vegas. The Oregon commit was at the mercy of targets and the ball coming his way, but did more on his opportunities than any pass catcher we saw.

The 6-foot-2, 210-pounder was the most physically-developed wide receiver on hand. He has outstanding play strength despite still being just 16-years-old. Dickey separated himself from other big receivers with his advanced movement skills. Simply put, he has considerable juice both in the route and after catch phases. Nobody ran routes harder than Dickey – and it showed. He was open all weekend, whether the ball was coming his way or not. We saw the Bay Area product win at all levels – deep, intermediate, short and after the catch. His best play on Sunday came on a long touchdown catch, where he beat the corner on a seam for a full-field touchdown. Sometimes wide receivers can take advantage of the 7-on-7 format by making non-translatable plays, particularly underneath. That was not the case here – you didn’t have to squint to see the plays that Jurrion Dickey made translating to 11-on-11 padded football.

On3’s Day 2 MVP was amongst the top playmakers every time he stepped onto the field for the Miami Immortals. Perhaps no wide receiver had a week quite like Dickey. The 6-foot-3, 210-pounder is a physical mismatch playing on the outside with speed to threaten downfield and superb ups, range and hands to bring down most passes in his direction. The Oregon pledge is a Sunday type of player.

Jurrion Dickey a top performer at The Opening Finals

Charles Power

Dickey was our top 2023 wide receiver at The Opening Finals. The Bay Area prospect is thick and physically developed. Dickey showed quickness and burst in his releases off the line of scrimmage and strong hands at the catch point. He became the top target for his team over the course of the tournament, catching several touchdowns.
