Nick Evers accounts for six touchdowns in play-in game

Charles Power

Nick Evers and his Flower Mound (Texas) High team had a de facto play-in game against Coppell (Texas) High, with the winner making the playoffs. The 6-foot-3, 187-pounder came up huge, accounting for six touchdowns in the win. Evers completed 21 of 28 passes for 227 yards, two touchdowns and an interception. He rushed for 145 yards and four touchdowns on 10 carries. The performance in a pressure-packed situation was certainly eye-catching. The Gator commit has one of the better combinations of arm talent and mobility in the cycle and continued to show those skills. Evers does not play on a team that is loaded with talent. He’s had to create on his own this year, which bodes well for long-term development.

Nick Evers does it all in close loss to top program

Charles Power

Florida quarterback commit Nick Evers impressed against traditional powerhouse Dallas Highland Park. Evers' Flower Mound (Texas) High squad quickly fell behind 14-0 in the first quarter. Evers led a second-half comeback with Flower Mound taking a brief lead before a late game-winning touchdown drive by Highland Park. The Florida commit finished 27of 49 for 312 yards and three touchdowns. He also rushed for 94 yards. While good, the stats don't tell the whole story. Evers had a number of catchable throws that could've gone for touchdowns – a number that gets as high as five depending on how generous you want to be. He was on point for the most part, even on incompletions. Evers showcased his patented quick release – perhaps the fastest we've seen in the 2022 cycle. He gets it out quick and hot, making it tough for defenders to make a play on the ball. There were a number of high-level throws to the sideline, which activated the whole field and stressed the Highland Park defense. We also liked what we saw from a mobility and pocket feel standpoint. Evers was able to break contain and pick up chunks of yards on several scrambles. He's a good athlete and can get to the edge.

Nick Evers shows quick release at Elite 11 Finals

Charles Power

Evers had the quickest release at the Elite 11 Finals, in our opinion. The ball comes out very fast and there are no wasted movements within the throwing motion. Evers was outstanding throwing on the run both to his left and right in designed scramble drills. He showed the ability to quickly plant and fire a strike. Evers was solid on Day 2 during his Pro Day session but took a bit of a step back in 7-on-7 play with defensive backs added to the equation.
