2027 4-star PG Oneal Delancy transfers to Montverde Academy

One of the Sunshine State’s top 2027 point guards in Oneal Delancy will have a new home when the 2025-2026 season starts.

The 4-star floor general posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, on Monday afternoon that he is transferring from St. Petersburg Gibbs to national powerhouse Montverde Academy. Delancy is ranked the No. 6 player in Florida and No. 14 among all point guards nationally.

The Gladiators have been one of Florida’s top public high school basketball programs over the last two seasons, with head coach Larry Murphy guiding Gibbs to a 54-10 record, including winning a state championship in 2023-2024. Delancy started coming into his own that championship season as a freshman has developed into one of the top point guards in the nation.

As a sophomore last season for Gibbs, Delancy played in all 32 games for the Gladiators and averaged 17.5 points, 2.5 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.7 steals per game en route to a 27-5 record. Coming onto the varsity scene as a freshman for Murphy, Delancy made an immediate impact for the Gladiators as he averaged 15.4 points, 2.6 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 2.1 steals per contest.

When it comes to Delancy’s list of college suitors, there’s plenty of schools around the country that are looking to get the services of the star point guard once his high school days are over.

The schools that have already Delancy so far are Florida A&M, Florida State, Grambling State, Georgia Southern, Georgia Tech, Hampton, Maryland, Miami (FL), Oregon, USF and West Virginia.

Montverde Academy entered the summer in somewhat of a transition when former lead man Kevin Boyle left thr program to accept a head coaching job at SPIRE Academy (Ohio). The Eagles named former Gonzaga College High head coach Steve Turner to the same position.

Turner comes over with a winning pedigree as he owns an overall record of 497-176 (.738 win percentage) over the course of 26 years at Gonzaga College Prep.
