Adidas to supply Miami-Dade Schools with equipment in $13.5 million partnership

Miami-Dade County Public Schools and Adidas have come together in a major $13.5 million partnership that will supply the 41 high schools in the Greater Miami Athletic Conference with equipment for the next five years.
M-DCPS announced the partnership on Monday as many of the athletes showcased their new gear at the iconic Traz Powell Stadium in Miami. The partnership, which includes all sports programs, has already taken effect as many of the top schools in the Sunshine State will now sport the Three Stripes this fall.
Previously, different schools sported different brands. This landmark partnership takes a burden off Miami-Dade public schools financially, as they previously relied on fundraising and a use of general funds to supply uniforms and gear. Now, all programs are under one roof. Varsity, junior varsity and feeder programs are all included.
“From Miami-Dade County Public Schools, we provide an amazing pipeline of talent into sports, not only at the state level, but also at the national level, so we are again, promoting, validating, embracing the incredible talent that we have in MDCPS,” superintendent Dr. Jose Dotres said in a released statement.

Adidas has become a prevalent fixture in the state. The brand is partnered with the University of Miami, Florida Atlantic University, University of South Florida and Florida International University. They also received naming rights for what’s now called Adidas Field at Traz Powell Stadium — which has been home to the likes of Miami Northwestern, Miami Central and other programs that have produced myriad professional athletes over the years.
Additionally, the district’s “Super 7” schools — Northwestern, Central, Booker T. Washington, South Dade, Carol City, Homestead and Norland — each had adiZero Electric football uniforms unveiled on Monday. The Florida high school football regular season will kick into gear this weekend.
According to NBCMiami, it’s not currently known how much money the school district will save as a result of the partnership, but Adidas is offering its gear at a discount. Officially licensed Adidas gear is now available to purchase online.
