Alabama High School Football: How to watch Clay-Chalkville vs. Saraland
The best game out of the Alabama high school football state championships this week takes place tonight when No. 5 ranked Clay-Chalkville (15-0) faces off against No. 4 ranked Saraland (14-0) for the state’s Class 6A crown. Checkout the key players on both sides to watch in this matchup of top five Alabama high school football teams tonight.
Cougars to Watch
No. 3 ranked Clay-Chalkville (15-0) enters tonight’s contest with a chance to become a nationally ranked high school football team when it’s all said and done. For all the impressive victories they have tallied throughout the season, the Cougars can notch arguably their crowning achievement to cap the AHSAA finals tonight in Magic City. Biggest question mark is can they finish the drill against a very talented Saraland squad?
QB Aaron Frye: The senior signal caller will lead the Cougars offensively and LSU signee Corey Barber will be his go-to-guy. Frye this season has completed 137 of 226 passes for 1,982 yards and 19 touchdowns.
WR Corey Barber: Barber, a senior four-star wide receiver, is the top pass catcher for Clay-Chalkville’s offense. The LSU signee heads into tonight having hauled in 68 passes for 1,130 yards and scored 14 times.
S Xavier Starks: The Cincinnati signee leads a very talented defensive backfield that’s going to make life difficult for Saraland’s Jamison Roberts. Starks has made 59 tackles and batted away 17 passes this season.
CB Deon Callins: Callins, a South Alabama signee, joins Starks as apart of a strong secondary. The senior has made 50 tackles and defensed seven passes this season.
Spartans to Watch
Alabama’s No. 4 ranked team, Saraland (14-0), is in search of the program’s second ever state championship, but to do so, they’ll need to knock out a Clay-Chalkville team that’s shown they are every bit worthy of being considered a nationally ranked squad. Saraland’s defense has notched two shutouts this season and will look to slow down the Cougars’ potent offensive attack.
QB Jamison Roberts: The junior four-star quarterback anchors the Spartans’ offense as Roberts has completed 191 of 263 passes for 3,114 yards and 34 touchdowns.

WR DeShawn Spencer: The Auburn signee wide receiver is the go-to-target for Roberts this season. Spencer this season for Saraland has put up some eye-popping numbers, hauling 84 passes for 1,584 yards and 21 touchdowns.
RB Antonio Brown: If Saraland decides to make it more of a ground-oriented kinda night, they’ll look to Brown to carry them to a Alabama high school football championship. The running back has rushed for 865 yards and nine touchdowns.
LB Ayindae Pugh: Heading up the heart of the defense for the Spartans is Pugh in the middle, with the linebacker leading the defense with a team-high 90 tackles.
