Alabama High School Football Rankings: Top 25 Teams - Sept. 15

The 2025 Alabama high school football schedule continues to deliver big-time matchups as the state’s best programs continue to emerge this fall.
With the season now four weeks deep, familiar names remain at the top of the state rankings. Thompson holds firm at No. 1, while known powerhouse Central has crept up to No. 3.
Four in-state ranked matchups are next up this week, as are a pair of colossal interstate showdowns. Below are the top 25 teams in Alabama after week four, according to the Massey Ratings.
1. Thompson Warriors (3-1)
Since suffering a heartbreaking loss to Grayson (Ga.), Thompson hasn’t allowed a point. The Warriors defense pitched its second shutout in as many weeks on Friday in a 41-0 win over Oak Mountain. Thompson’s schedule really picks up from here. Each of the six regular-season matchups left on the schedule are currently against top-30 teams and it starts with a home battle against No. 5 Vestavia Hills this week. A massive two-week road trip to No. 6 Clay-Chalkville and No. 2 Hewitt-Trussville will follow.
2. Hewitt-Trussville Huskies (4-0)
Freshman quarterback Jack Floyd threw for 128 yards and rushed for another 78 in a massive road win for Hewitt-Trussville. The Huskies went to Hoover and won a hard-nosed 17-14 battle over the Buccaneers. Senior wide receiver and Virginia commit Dylan Cope caught seven passes for 83 yards and a touchdown in the victory to help HT improve to 4-0. With a pair of top-10 wins now under their belt, the Huskies stay on the road this week and will take on No. 11 Hillcrest this week.
3. Central Red Devils (4-0)
The Central offense continues to look potent. In a 56-28 win on the road over Dothan, the Red Devils had over 600 all-purpose yards. Junior quarterback Bobby Coleman continued his strong start to the year with 231 passing yards and four touchdowns. The running back duo of Donovan Crow and Jayshaun Woodhouse combined for 273 yards on the ground. In two weeks, Central takes on Florida power IMG Academy. Before then, it heads to No. 16 Enterprise this Friday.
4. Saraland Spartans (4-0)
The schedule suggests that if all goes according to plan for Saraland, it will ride an undefeated record into the postseason. The Spartans won their ranked season-opener against Jackson and now won’t play another currently-ranked foe until Oct. 24 when it hosts Theodore. Over the weekend they thumped Spanish Fort on the road, 54-7. They now host McGill-Toolen Catholic this Friday.
5. Vestavia Hills Rebels (3-1)
Instead of licking its wounds after taking its first loss of the season, Vestavia Hills got right back on the horse and trounced No. 11 Hillcrest 42-24 to improve to 3-1 on the year. It raced to a 21-0 lead in the first quarter and cruised from there behind junior QB Charlie Taafe, who had 147 passing yards and 131 rushing yards in the win. The Rebels may appear to be a notch below the programs that currently sit above them in the state rankings, but they’ll get another chance to prove otherwise this week when they head to top-ranked Thompson.
6. Clay-Chalkville Cougars (4-0)
Clay-Chalkville has done what its supposed to against its early-season opponents. After a 50-0 win over Shades Valley last week, the Cougars have now outscored their four foes 208-24. Their moxie will be put to the test across the next two weeks, however. Brandon, the No. 3 team in Mississippi, comes to town this Friday. Then, the Cougars host No. 1 Thompson. The vaunted rushing attack will face two stout defenses, providing some major tests in Pinson.
7. Auburn Tigers (3-1)
There was no hangover from Auburn’s big rivalry win over Opelika last week as it held Enterprise to one score in a 23-7 victory. The Tigers defense has been exemplary in each of its three wins. They’ll host JAG this week before No. 18 Moody comes to town on Sept. 26. Senior Will Lee and junior Cason Myers combined for nearly 400 yards and two touchdowns in the win over Enterprise.

8. Parker Thundering Herd (4-0)
Parker has cruised to 4-0 this season behind a defense that’s allowed just 34 total points. Last week, the Thundering Herd vanquished Mortimer Jordan 42-7. The biggest test of the season is now on deck, though, as it heads to Carrollton (Ga.). Last season, the Trojans went to Birmingham and won 48-26, giving Parker its lone loss of the 2024 campaign. Carrollton no longer has Julian Lewis at QB, however. The Massey Ratings predicts a big win for the Peach State program, but Parker will have revenge on its mind this Friday.
9. Hoover Buccaneers (1-3)
The Hoover Met has long been considered a tough place to play, but Hoover is now 0-3 at home this season after losing 17-14 to No. 2 Hewitt-Trussville. Offense has not been easy to come by against stiff competition for the Buccaneers thus far. The losses have come to IMG, the top-ranked team in Florida, as well as No. 11 Hillcrest and now No. 2 Hewitt-Trussville. The Bucs are taking their licks but still have the look of an impressive team at times. The schedule doesn’t lighten up all that much as they now head to Prattville, a top-30 team in the state.
10. Mary G Montgomery Vikings (4-0)
It remains to be seen just how good Mary G Montgomery is, but it has taken care of business to this point. The Vikings took down Robertsdale 37-0 last week and is now 4-0 with three of those wins coming on the road. They now return to home this week and host 2-2 Foley. MGM has just one currently-ranked matchup left on its schedule: Oct. 17 vs. Baker.
