Auburn RB commit Alvin Henderson begins senior season with five touchdowns

Elba (Ala.) running back Alvin Henderson smashed state records as a junior. If Friday night was any indication, he’s looking to make even more history this fall.
The 5-foot-9, 195-pounder opened his senior campaign with a bang this weekend. In just 19 carries, Henderson rushed for a whopping 325 yards and five touchdowns, leading Elba to a 50-22 win on the road at Luverne (Ala.).
Henderson made On3’s High School Football Preseason All-America Team earlier this fall, thanks to his monstrous junior statistics. He racked up 3,523 yards and a state record 61 touchdowns, averaging over 250 yards per game and over 15 yards per carry. He entered Friday with over 7,200 yards and 132 TDs on the ground across his first three seasons.
“Alvin Henderson is the most productive of the top running back prospects in this cycle coming out of his junior season. He plays at a lower level in Alabama, but he is utterly dominant against that competition, as you would expect from a blue-chip prospect,” On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power said this spring.
“Overall, he’s a well-rounded and reliable running back. He’s going to be a guy who you can count on to maximize his blocking and pick up consistent yards. He’s a highly productive running back prospect.”

Penn State beat Auburn for Henderson’s pledge back in April, but the in-state Tigers never went away and eventually flipped him on June 21. Henderson is now the No. 154 overall prospect and No. 9 RB in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 13 player in Alabama.
“Auburn is a great school and they are going in the right direction. Coach Derrick Nix is a cool coach, we are building a relationship and Coach Freeze is doing a lot of good things,” Henderson told On3. “Auburn has great fans, the atmosphere is wild and I love a lot of things about Auburn. They recruited me hard and they have put a lot of time and effort into me. The Auburn coaches have shown a lot of love.”
Following its season-opening victory, Elba is the No. 127 team in the state of Alabama, per the On3 Massey Ratings, though it will once again be competing for a state title at the 1A level. The On3 Massey Ratings — which were officially used during the BCS era and have generated college high school sports team rankings since 1995 — rank sports teams by analyzing game outcomes, strength of schedule and margin of victory.
