Bixby (OK) scores 79 in career win No. 150 for head coach

There’s probably no other way Bixby (OK) head football coach Loren Montgomery would probably have it when clinching a coaching accomplishment.

Montgomery’s Spartans finished the regular season the only way they know they can and that was with a high-scoring offensive performance in Friday night’s win over Deer Creek. Bixby completed a 10-0 regular season and after trailing 15-7 at one point in the game, scored 72 unanswered points en route to a 79-15 win over Deer Creek.

With the victory, Montgomery notched career win No. 150 of his coaching career, which has included 10 state championships and a 58-game winning streak that lasted from 2018 to 2022. The 79-point output by Bixby was their second highest total of the season, with their team record being 92 when they defeated Enid a couple weeks ago.

In what had become kind of the norm on a weekly basis for Bixby, ranked No. 2 currently by the Massey Ratings, has been winning by wide margins and Friday’s victory became something that much more special for the program and Montgomery.

The Spartans this 2025 campaign have piled up 582 points (58.2 points per game) and according to 2 News Oklahoma’s Dan Lindblad, are just 62 points away from breaking the school record set by the 2022 ball club. With Bixby set to make another deep playoff run and gun for their eighth straight state title, the chances of breaking the school-record seems not a matter of if, but more so on when.
