When the No. 17-ranked Plantation American Heritage Patriots (Fla.) visit New Orleans on Sep. 12 to face the No. 26-ranked Edna Karr Cougars, they won’t just be playing at any ole high school stadium. They’ll be taking the field at the NFL’s New Orleans Saints’ Caesars Superdome.

According to a post on Instagram by the Cougars’ football program, the 83,000-seat NFL stadium will serve host to the nationally ranked showdown between the Cougars and Patriots. The game is set for a 7 p.m. kickoff when the two Southeast powers square off.

Edna Karr heads into the 2025 campaign as the No. 1-ranked team in all of the Pelican State, according to the Preseason Louisiana Top 25 High School Football Rankings.

The Cougars feature Power 4 prospects like four-star LSU commits Richard AndersonAiden Hall, cornerbacks Hayward Howard Jr., Maurice Williams (Colorado commit) and offensive linemen Leon Noil (Nebraska commit) and Zyion Wesley. Anderson, Hall, Howard Jr. and Williams will lead a defensive unit that only yielded 13 points per game on their way to winning the LHSAA Division I Select state championship in 2024.

Last season, Edna Karr won 13 of their 14 victories by double digits on the way to finishing undefeated at 14-0.

Edna Karr will have its work cut out for them when they welcome Plantation American Heritage into town, which the Patriots are coming off winning Florida’s Class 4A state championship in 2024.

The Patriots return a bevy of starters from last year’s team, including 2026 five-star quarterback Dia Bell (Texas commit). Bell is the crown jewel of the Patriots’ roster as the quarterback last season threw for 2,597 yards, 29 touchdowns and just six picks before going down with an injury.

Bell isn’t alone when it comes to stars on the offensive side of the ball for American Heritage as they also feature 2026 four-star wide receiver Brandon Bennett (Florida State commit) and 2026 three-stars Jeffar Jean-Noel (Georgia Tech commit), Jamar Denson (Troy commit) and Zamarii Sanders.
