The high school football regular season concluded for most teams in California last week, and the top programs in the Golden State are now focused on the postseason.

Another jam-packed slate is on deck as teams continue their quests for a state title. Below are the top 25 California high school football teams, according to the Massey Ratings, as of Nov 3.

1. St. John Bosco Braves

The Braves retained the top spot in the California high school football rankings despite losing to Mater Dei. St. John Bosco lost after the Monarchs completed a touchdown pass with eight minutes left in regulation. After finishing with a 9-1 record, the state’s best team will face Orange Lutheran in the California Interscholastic Federation Southern Section quarterfinals on November 7.

2. Mater Dei Monarchs

In their victory over St. John Bosco, Ryan Hopkins’ throw to Kayden Dixon-Wyatt became the winning score. Hopkins threw for five touchdowns, while Chris Henry Jr. dominated with 213 yards on five catches. Meanwhile, this victory improved Mater Dei’s record to 7-2 and they will play against Mission Viejo in the CIF Southern Section quarterfinals on the 7th.

3. Centennial Huskies

The Huskies closed the 2025 California high school football regular season with a 60-29 victory over Chaparral. Centennial’s ground game was humming, courtesy of Dean Gibson (94 rushing yards, two touchdowns) and Malaki Davis (72 yards, two TDs). Meanwhile, Dominick Catalano completed touchdown passes to Gavin Lorge and Devan Parker. On the flipside, Centennial’s defense generated five sacks, while Boogie Williams made three of the Huskies’ four interceptions. The Huskies will play Servite in the CIF Southern Section quarterfinals on November 7.

4. Sierra Canyon Trailblazers

The Trailblazers completed a perfect regular season after a 52-3 domination of Loyola. Laird Finkel threw for 194 yards and three touchdowns, while De’Markus Barnes rushed for 77 yards and two scores. Tron Baker caught four passes for 74 yards and two TDs. Sierra Canyon will battle with Santa Margarita Catholic in the CIF Southern Section quarterfinals on the 7th.

5. Santa Margarita Catholic Eagles

The Eagles ended the 2025 California high school football regular season with a win streak. In their 41-14 win over JSerra Catholic, Trace Johnson finished with 243 yards and two touchdowns, while Jaion Smith rushed for 127 yards and a touchdown. Trent Mosley, Jake Martin, and Ryan Clark also scored touchdowns. Santa Margarita Catholic’s postseason journey will start against Sierra Canyon on November 7.
