Had enough with high school football forfeits this season? Well, the state of California saw one of its teams have to forfeit six victories due to a rule violation, per a report.

According to a report by High School On SI’s Tarek Fattel, the Norco Cougars, the state’s No. 43 ranked team via the Massey Ratings, is being forced to forfeit all six victories from the 2025 season. What isn’t clear per the report is what violation committed is forcing Norco to vacate the six wins.

Norco High School sent out an email to faculty regarding a violation that would require the football team to forfeit all six victories. Here is the email in its entirety:

I want to take a moment to acknowledge a matter that is currently impacting our school community and share some context with you as valued members of staff. A violation of a CIF Bylaw involving the Norco High School football program was recently reported to the District and CIF. Following a thorough investigation, the violation was confirmed. As a result, games involving ineligible players will be forfeited, as required by CIF regulations. We also recognize that many of you will feel the ripple effects of this news in your classrooms, conversations, and relationships with students. Please direct any questions or concerns to Norco High School Administration. Above all, I want to thank you for continuing to show up every day for our students, with professionalism, grace, and unwavering care. You are the reason our school is strong, even in the midst of challenges. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have questions or need support.

The Cougars were 6-3 on the season, but because now of the forfeits will fall to 0-9 heading into tonight’s game against Vista Murrieta (6-3).

Norco just last week was in a battle with the country’s No. 9 team Centennial, falling to the Huskies in a 59-49 decision.
