California high school football team hasn't surrendered points all season

There are countless stories in California high school football, especially because it includes some of the nation’s powerhouse teams. However, while narratives about dominance of a team from the Golden State are typical, one squad takes it up a notch by blanking all of their eight opponents so far this season.

The Ferndale Wildcats are still undefeated after outscoring their opponents 517-0. In addition to shutting down their foes from the scoreboard, they have averaged 64.6 points per game. Their lowest output was 49 points, scored during their game against Fortuna Union. Through eight games, it’s the only time they’ve finished under 50 points.

Conversely, the Wildcats completed 70-point masterpieces against three California high school football opponents. The highest was 79 points, done against McKinleyville on October 11. The week before, Ferndale poured on 73 opposite Hoopa Valley. The Wildcats made it three in a row after their 72-0 beatdown of Arcata on October 18. Meanwhile, in their latest game, the Wildcats earned a repeat victory over Hoopa Valley 67-0.

Though coach Clint McCurg’s crew have been a thorn on their opponents over three seasons, Ferndale hasn’t dominated in this nature. Last season, the Wildcats finished with an 11-2 record after losing to Moreau Catholic in the North Coast Division 7 Sectional Championship. Likewise, they’ve only had three shutout victories in 13 games.

Still, the question remains if the Wildcats can complete the 2025 California high school football season without giving up points. They can complete the feat in their two remaining games, which are both road games. They will visit McKinleyville on October 31 and travel to Arcata for their regular season finale on November 7.
