California High School Football Top 25 Rankings - Nov. 17

The postseason continued in the Golden State last week, and another jam-packed slate is on deck as teams continue their quests for a state title. Below are the top 25 California high school football teams, according to the Massey Ratings, as of Nov. 17.
1. Mater Dei Monarchs
The Monarchs returned to the top spot in the California high school football rankings after blanking Mission Viejo 20-0. Kennie Leggett rushed for 92 yards and a touchdown while Malachi Roby had a couple of rushing scores. Meanwhile, the Mater Dei defense generated 15 tackles for losses (including three sacks) and an interception. California’s best team will advance to the CIF Division 1 Southern Division semifinal and face Centennial on November 21.
2. Centennial Huskies
The Huskies’ playoff journey continues after defeating Servite 41-6. Malaki Davis tallied 160 rushing yards and two touchdowns, while Keawe Browne and Gavin Lorge each had a receiving touchdown. Centennial will play against Mater Dei on the 21st.
3. St. John Bosco Braves
The Braves’ season ended with a heartbreaking 20-19 loss to Orange Lutheran. Koa Malau’ulu finished with 71 passing yards, 12 rushing yards, and two touchdowns. Corey Hinton and Madden Williams each had a touchdown. St. John Bosco’s 2025 California high school football campaign ended at 9-2 and closed the season with back-to-back losses.
4. Santa Margarita Catholic Eagles
The Eagles advanced in the playoffs after a 21-9 victory over Sierra Canyon. Trace Johnson threw for 160 yards and two touchdowns, while Trent Mosley had a rushing TD. Ryan Clark had a couple of receiving touchdowns. Isaia Vandermade had three sacks, while the entire Santa Margarita Catholic defense had 11 tackles for losses. Carson Palmer’s crew will face Orange Lutheran in the CIF Southern Section Division 1 semifinal on November 21.
5. Mission Viejo Diablos
The Diablos’ 2025 California high school football season ended with a 20-0 shutout loss against Mater Dei. The Mission Viejo defense generated 7.5 tackles for losses (including 3.5 sacks) and a fumble recovery. The Diablos finished their campaign with a 9-2 record.
