The high school football season continued in California last week, as many of the top programs in the Golden State were in action. Plenty of interesting results followed.

Another jam-packed slate is on deck as teams continue their quests for a state title. Below are the top 25 California high school football teams, according to the Massey Ratings, as of Sept. 8.

1. Mater Dei Monarchs (3-0)

The Monarchs remain California high school football’s top team after a  21-18 victory over Hawaii’s Kahuku Red Raiders. Wisconsin commit Ryan Hopkins had 11 completions for 122 yards and a touchdown, while running back Justin Lewis had ten carries for 95 yards. This victory extends Mater Dei’s active win streak to 21 games before visiting Centennial for their September 12 game.

3. Mission Viejo Diablos (3-0)

The Diablos scored more than 50 points for the second consecutive game. This time, they defeated Folsom, thanks largely to quarterback Luke Fahey’s 323 passing yards and five touchdowns. Two of those scoring throws went to KJ Woodbury Jr., who finished with 94 receiving yards. Mission Viejo will target its fourth straight win against Lincoln on September 12.
