Chaminade-Madonna (Fla.) offensive coordinator steps down

The offensive architect of several of Chaminade-Madonna’s (Fla.) top state championship teams will no longer be calling the plays this 2025 season.
According to a source, Toro Wallace has stepped down as the offensive coordinator of the nine-time state champion Chaminade-Madonna Lions. The Portal 305 was first to report Wallace’s resignation.
Wallace has coached players like Ohio State star wide receiver Jeremiah Smith, North Carolina running back Davion Gause, North Carolina State quarterback Cedrick Bailey and Miami wide receiver Joshisa Trader.
The offensive coordinator stepping down from his position as the play caller for the Lions comes ahead of a huge South Florida tilt against No. 3 ranked American Heritage on Friday night. Chaminade-Madonna enters the game as the Sunshine State’s fourth ranked team via the latest set of Florida High School Football Top 25 Rankings.
Chaminade-Madonna has won four straight state championships dating back to 2021, with Wallace having a heavy hand in orchestrating the offense for the Lions along the way. From 2021 to 2024, under Wallace’s play-calling, the Lions averaged 43.8 points through 56 games and won state titles each season.

With the team currently featuring one of the top running backs in the nation in senior four-star Derrek Cooper (Texas commit), Chaminade has gone to a more run-heavy attack compared to high-flying when players like Smith, Bailey, Gause and Trader were on the offense. This season, the Lions have rushed for nearly 400 yards on the ground between Cooper (100 yards) and junior tailback Arwin Jackson (212 yards).
Chaminade-Madonna (1-1) is coming off a 28-14 win over McArthur after falling 42-13 to nationally ranked St. Frances Academy (Md.) at the Broward County Classic to start the season. The Lions have a difficult stretch of games the rest of the way after American Heritage, which includes South Florida powerhouse St. Thomas Aquinas on Halloween, Cardinal Gibbons, Monarch and Miami Edison.
